Amy Washio is Country Director of BEE Japan, leading a team of engineers and materials specialists focusing on sustainability for the built environment. Additionally, she serves as a director for a modular design venture focused on affordable, sustainable solutions for the residential and hospitality sectors.
Before joining BEE, Washio led Cartier Japan’s Store Design Planning team, overseeing the development and construction of flagship and portfolio stores. She also relaunched Cartier Japan’s LEED initiatives in collaboration with BEE Japan.
Earlier, during her tenure at Starbucks, she pioneered LEED practices, leading the first LEED-certified store in Japan and co-leading Starbucks’ first LEED pilots in Asia. As Concept Director for Starbucks China, Washio created Starbucks’ first Greener Store Lab, establishing a scalable approach across Asia.
Washio began her career in architecture, supporting the Prada Epicenter Projects in California. She first came to Japan in 1997 as an architectural intern for Hara Hiroshi after graduating from M.I.T.
